How to Put SCAPTION Captions in Zoom: Live Captions in 5 Steps
Live captions inside your Zoom meeting, from the audio you already have. Zoom's own caption bar shows each person one language at a time; to let everyone pick their own language, share SCAPTION's access link as well. Five steps, about ten minutes.

Choose your plan
To translate (for example French speech into English captions) you need the Event Pro plan. Buy it as a single-event pass for one event, or as a monthly plan if you caption regularly. The Accessibility plan gives you the same NDI output but transcribes only, with translation switched off.

Set up SCAPTION
- Open SCAPTION on your computer.
- In the Audio card, choose what to listen to: a microphone for a speaker in the room, or This computer's audio for a video, a stream, Zoom, Teams or Meet.
- In Languages, set the Spoken language, and in The venue screen shows pick the caption language, for example French to English.
Copy the caption token in Zoom
- As the host, allow third-party captions in your Zoom settings (the option about the caption API token).
- In the meeting, open Show Captions (▲) and choose Set up manual captioner.
- Click Copy the API token.
Paste it into SCAPTION
- In SCAPTION, open the Zoom captions card.
- Paste the token in the field.
- Click Connect to Zoom.
Check the captions in Zoom
- Speak, or play audio: the captions appear in Zoom's caption bar.
- The token stops working when the meeting ends, so copy a new one next time.
- To stop, click Stop sending to Zoom.
After the event: an AI summary
When the event ends, you can ask for an AI summary of the day. You can open it for 30 days. After that it is deleted automatically.
Before the event
- Nothing shows in Zoom? The host must allow third-party captions, and the token must come from the meeting that is running now.
- Do a test with real speech or a video, a few minutes before you start.
