End User License Agreement

This EULA governs your use of the SCAPTION Desktop application (the "Software") — separately from the Terms of Service, which govern our hosted backend and website.

Last updated: 29 August 2026. The Spanish version prevails in case of discrepancy. An improved version of this document will be published soon; substantial changes are announced in advance.

1. License grant

Subject to your account entitlement (Free Trial, Accessibility, Event Pro, Broadcast Multi-Mic, or Enterprise), SCAPTION grants you a non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and run the Software on Windows and macOS machines you control, for live captioning and translation at events you operate.

2. Third-party component — NDI®

The Software bundles a redistributable runtime component of the NDI® SDK (the "NDI Runtime"), licensed to SCAPTION by Vizrt NDI AB and included here under the terms of the NDI SDK License Agreement. By installing the Software, you additionally agree to the following terms, which flow down from that agreement:

3. Restrictions

Except as applicable law expressly permits, you may not reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble the Software; sublicense, rent, or lease it to a third party; or use it to build a competing captioning or translation product.

4. Updates

We may release updates to the Software, including newer versions of the bundled NDI Runtime, to keep it current with Vizrt NDI AB's releases. Continuing to use the Software after an update constitutes acceptance of that update.

5. Product telemetry & diagnostics

The Software reports a small number of facts about its own operation to our backend — for example that a live session was refused and which plan limit refused it, or that a component failed and how often. These reports carry counts, timestamps and short pre-defined values only: no audio, no captions, no transcript, no attendee question and no speaker name can be included, and no free-text field exists for one to end up in. This is our own server-side measurement under our legitimate interest in keeping the Software working; no third-party analytics product is used and nothing is sold or shared. Reports are kept for 12 months and then deleted automatically. See our Privacy Policy for the full description and how to object.

6. Disclaimer & liability

The Software is provided "as is." To the extent permitted by law, SCAPTION disclaims all warranties beyond those set out in your order or plan, and liability is limited as described in our Terms of Service.

7. Termination

This license ends automatically if you violate Section 2 or 3 above, or if your SCAPTION account entitlement lapses. On termination, uninstall the Software and stop using the bundled NDI Runtime.
